What has been done

• Semantic HTML with one h1 per page and a heading structure that follows the content.
• Every page is operable by keyboard alone, including the navigation, the disclosure menus and the enquiry form. Focus is always visible, with a 2px outline rather than a browser default that disappears on dark backgrounds.
• A skip link to the main content, as the first focusable element on every page.
• Text contrast against the page background exceeds 4.5:1 throughout, and most body text is above 8:1. Placeholder text in form fields is held above 5:1, which is unusual and deliberate — greyed-out placeholders are a common failure.
• Form fields have real labels, errors are announced, and the error text is associated with its field.
• Technical drawings carry descriptive alternative text explaining what the drawing shows, not just what it is called.
• Motion is limited to short fades, and is disabled entirely for anyone whose system requests reduced motion.
• Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320px, and the site works at 200% zoom.

Known limitations

• The engineering drawings are conceptually complex. The alternative text describes what each drawing shows, but a drawing is a dense format and the surrounding prose is written so that no information exists only in a figure.
• Some specification tables scroll horizontally on narrow screens. The scrolling container is keyboard operable, but a wide table remains harder to read on a phone than on a laptop.
• The site has been tested with keyboard navigation, automated checks and at multiple zoom levels. It has not yet been tested with a full range of assistive technologies by disabled users, which is the only test that really counts. We would like to change that.
