Engineering work with a price on it

Most engineering firms will not tell you what anything costs until you have had two meetings. Each price is fixed for the scope agreed in writing before work starts.

Which one

You know what is on your desk. Start there.

Several of these end in an engineering drawing. What separates them is what you start from.

Every route starts with a conversation, not a purchase.

What each one includes

Each is a defined piece of work with a written output.

01 / A physical part you cannot buy any more

Obsolete Part Replacement

The component is out of production, the OEM has closed or the lead time is unacceptable, and the machine it belongs to is worth keeping.

Business price, from £750 Measurement, drawing and first article in one price.

What you get

  • A manufacturing drawing you own, in DXF, DWG, STEP or PDF
  • The finished part, inspected against that drawing
  • A route to order it again without repeating the engineering

Who it is for

Maintenance and engineering managers keeping capital equipment in service.

02 / A sketch, a photograph or a sample

Manufacturing Drawing Service

You know what you need making, but there is no drawing a supplier could quote from — just a sketch, an old print, or the part itself.

Business price, from £295 Per part. Manufacturing-ready, not a traced sheet.

What you get

  • A dimensioned, toleranced drawing to BS 8888 with a title block, revision control and a material specification
  • CAD in a neutral format where that is included in the scope
  • A draft for review and one revision round before the drawing is issued
  • A drawing three different fabricators can quote from and return comparable prices

Who it is for

Anyone who needs a part made and has no drawing a supplier could quote from.

03 / Paper drawings, old PDFs or marked-up prints

Paper to CAD Conversion

Your part drawings are on paper, in a filing cabinet, and the person who understood them is retiring — or has already gone.

Business price Per drawing Priced per drawing in packs of 10, 25 and 50.

What you get

  • Controlled CAD and PDF drawings in a consistent format
  • A drawing register your quality system can point an auditor at
  • A record of every drawing we queried and what was decided

Who it is for

Manufacturers facing a retirement, an audit, an ERP migration or an acquired archive.

04 / A problem, with no solution decided yet

Engineering Problem Review

Something keeps failing, causing downtime or costing more than it should, and nobody has established what actually needs changing.

Business price, from £395 A fixed-price written opinion, not an open-ended investigation.

What you get

  • A concise written engineering review setting out the likely causes and the practical options
  • The unknowns and the risks stated plainly rather than glossed
  • A clear answer on whether this needs designing, measuring, making or leaving alone

Who it is for

Owners and engineering managers with a recurring failure nobody has diagnosed.

Timing

Delivered within 5 working days of scope and information being agreed.

Scope. This is an initial engineering opinion. It does not include certified design, structural calculations, regulatory approval, compliance assessment, safety validation or design verification unless those are separately agreed in writing.

05 / A drawing, design or 3D model

Design for Manufacture Review

You are about to commit a design to production and want it checked by people who have to make things, not just draw them.

Business price, from £495 Independent of any supplier quoting for the job.

What you get

  • An annotated drawing with the findings marked on it
  • Written recommendations, manufacturing risks and the questions to resolve
  • An indicative manufacturing route, named rather than assumed

Who it is for

Designers and buyers about to commit a design to tooling or production.

06 / A product or assembly with no complete documentation

Manufacturing Drawing Pack

A product you make has grown up without a complete drawing set, so it cannot be second-sourced, costed properly or handed to anyone else.

Business price, from £1,250 Scoped before you commit. A complete documentation set for an assembly.

What you get

  • A complete, controlled documentation set for the assembly
  • The agreed CAD deliverables — stated explicitly rather than assumed
  • Material specifications and finishes where these are known or can be established

Who it is for

Owners preparing a product to be second-sourced, handed over or sold.

How buying works

We confirm the scope before you pay anything

There is no checkout on this site, and that is deliberate. Engineering priced sight-unseen is either padded to cover the unknowns or wrong.

One
Tell us what you have. Photographs are usually enough to start.
Two
We reply within one working day, with questions or with a scope and a fixed price.
Three
You approve the scope. We invoice, and the work starts.
Four
If it turns into a bigger job, that is quoted separately. Nothing rolls over automatically.
What moves the price

Part complexity, whether material is tested or inferred, the number of parts, whether an outsourced process is involved, and how much information already exists. We name which of these applies to your job when we quote.

Not a package

Operations work is priced differently

Fractional operations runs on a day rate, one or two days a week, rolling with notice on both sides. It cannot honestly be productised into a fixed price, so we do not pretend otherwise.

Start

Describe the problem. We will tell you which of these it is.

Most people arrive with a symptom rather than a service in mind. Send a photograph and three lines about what is happening.
