Privacy notice
Short version: we use what you send us to reply to you, we do not sell it, we do not add you to a mailing list, and there are no advertising trackers on this site.
Who is responsible for your information

What we collect, and when
We collect information in only two circumstances.
When you send an enquiry
The enquiry form asks for your name, email address and a description of your problem. Company name and telephone number are optional. You may also attach photographs, drawings or CAD files. We record the time of submission and the IP address the enquiry came from, which is used to limit automated abuse of the form.
When you visit a page
Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs — IP address, page requested, time, browser type — which exist so the server can be operated and secured. We do not run analytics, advertising pixels or third-party tracking scripts, and this site sets no cookies of its own.
One third party is involved in serving the site: fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and Google will see your IP address as part of that request. If you would prefer that not to happen, the fonts can be self-hosted instead — it is a change we are happy to make and it is noted in the site's own deployment documentation.
Why we are allowed to hold it
For enquiries, our lawful basis is your consent, given by ticking the box on the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us about our services. For server logs and abuse prevention, our lawful basis is legitimate interests — operating a secure website.
Files you send us
Drawings, photographs and CAD files sent through the form are stored on the website's server in a directory that is not publicly accessible, and are moved to our normal working systems when we deal with your enquiry. We treat them as commercially confidential. We do not share them with third parties, and where a job requires a supplier to see a drawing we will ask you first.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within twelve months. Enquiries that become engagements are kept for the life of the engagement and for six years afterwards, which is the ordinary period for business records in the UK. Uploaded files are deleted on the same schedule. Server logs are retained according to our hosting provider's standard policy.
Who else sees it
Our web host, which stores the site and its data on our behalf; our email provider, through which your enquiry reaches us. Both act on our instructions. We do not sell data, we do not share it for marketing, and we do not add enquirers to any mailing list.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to our processing it, or withdraw consent you have given. Email sales@alikatadvisory.com and we will deal with it — there is no form and no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes
If this notice changes materially we will update this page. It was last reviewed in September 2026.
